Everyone at this time seems to feel we should wish each other a Happy New Year, as if by some divine intervention, this is the only day on which a new year begins. With so many “new years” being celebrated around the world, I wonder if the wish bestowed is often replacing the opportunity to wish everyone a happy new day, each and every day?
The reality is that a new year begins on each day. And many religions and countries celebrate their own new year on a different day. Perhaps then the wish of a new year can be looked as imply a kind act of respect towards anyone else’s “new year” than simply our own? What would happen if we wished each other a “happy new year” on each day?
Hold the thought…I’ll get back to you on this next year ;).
And to all those celebrating a new year on January 1st, I wish you a good one too.
