Australia has announced that a carbon tax will be levied based on emissions.
This is the tip of the iceberg regarding the “cost of green”. The debate will rage forever (so long as corporate and government objectives are not aligned) about what is the value of carbon emitted. What is the measure to use? Once you’ve established that measure, how do you value it?
Clearly the Australian government is creating a stir by now taxing corporations for their carbon emissions. This kind of mandate initiative will spur industry to begin to truly think about sustainability policies as a prime driver of decisions. Those responsible within the organizations for sustainability policies will be elevated as “part of the decision” rather than “an afterthought to the decision” wherever large corporate decisions are being made.
Kudos to Australia. This solar blog writer hopes other countries will follow suit. These are good policies for the value-proposition of solar systems and Electric Vehicles, two markets of focus for Sunlogics.
