No matter what your endeavour, having a clear vision and target is what it takes to succeed. Whether on personal or professional fronts, having muddled visions of where you want to go, or what is your measure of excellence, is a precursor to failing to meet those measures or those of the ones who dare follow you.
Being involved in start-ups gives an interesting perspective of what will translate into excellence and what will not. Whether you are leading a family or a company, the reality is that a clear vision of who you are, your expectations, your desires and measures of excellence will drive others with you who share that vision. Or in some cases, you will be driven by a leader who exudes these qualities or an organization which lives and breathes a culture of nourishment, teamwork, respect and the highest ethics.
Although I am no fortune teller, history reminds that those who muddle about with any of these principles are taking great risks of failure (as measured by the lack of achievement of the level of excellence desired). Whether in love or at work, your own measure in the end is all that counts. Other people’s opinions of you are none of your business, their opinions are entirely theirs, coming most often from their own set of excellence measures.
What does matter is that you set your bar clearly and for all to understand. Clarity of vision often comes as a result of the most muddled situations, yet for me it is becoming clearer each day that what drives me internally is to be a change-agent for our world, our family, our community…all with a goal of helping others achieve excellence. It is through this that I will achieve my own goals.
This theme resonates to me as I await my last flight to get to the HQ of sunlogics. It is one that many of the teammates that I will meet today know is of primary importance to me in a go-forward process. These team members have my admiration, because in the greatest of fogs, they have continued to plow through, relentless in their pursuit to make a difference, despite the most challenging of conditions.
I know there are many stakeholders wondering, as am I, what holds for the future of Salamon Group Inc and Sunlogics. It is my aim to continue to strive to bring as much clarity as possible to those points, all the while helping the organizations look inwards and decide for themselves if they have achieved the levels of excellence necessary to succeed in these public and ever-changing investment and operational markets. In the end, only one person (CEO/Chairman) decides what these companies do and where they go. Hopefully, our desires are better aligned after this visit, so that we can find a manner to elevate all members of the stakeholder communities involved in these companies…
After all, forming a clear vision is one thing. Executing it is another. I believe we have many components of the right team to execute, so I hope that after today that clarity of vision is made transparent for all to share.
